Leonard Cyril Deighton (natural February 18, 1929) is a British historian and author of spy fiction and historical novels.

Many of his novels keep around been adapted for films. His number one 4 novels featured an nameless hero, which in the flick versions was dubbed "Harry Palmer" and was played by Michael Caine. A foremost trilogy of his Bernard Samson series was mass produced into the 12-a portion television series by Granada Television and shown in 1988.
